Attend an Open Enrollment Event

Learn about the upcoming plan changes and get your questions answered by attending:

  • A virtual Town Hall for an overview of Open Enrollment and your benefits options. The one-hour session includes a Q&A with the Stanford Benefits team.
  • An in-person Open Enrollment Fair to talk to the Benefits team and vendors.

Open Enrollment Reminders

  • Every year, you must renew the HSA and FSAs, and re-apply for the Medical Contribution Assistance Program (MCAP). These benefits do not automatically roll over.
  • Employees who don’t need medical coverage through Stanford in 2024 may waive coverage during Open Enrollment.
  • If you plan to enroll in critical illness insurance, keep in mind that if you receive a diagnosis before your coverage goes into effect, that illness will not be covered. For example, if you are diagnosed with cancer this year and elect critical illness coverage to begin in 2024, you will not be eligible to receive a benefit for cancer. Please read the plan documents to be informed of the exclusions before enrolling in this plan.
  • If you currently have supplemental life insurance between one and three times your salary and are not at the maximum amount of $1,500,000, you can increase coverage by one level without submitting evidence of insurability (EOI). If you are newly electing supplemental life insurance, you must submit an EOI.
  • Getting a flu shot each year helps you stay healthy and safe. Stanford offers flu shot clinics on campus at no cost to employees. You can also receive a free flu shot at your primary care physicianʼs office. View the schedule on Environmental Health & Safety.
