Voluntary Benefits

Voluntary benefits are add-on programs and services designed to help you save time and money. Protect yourself and your loved ones with discounted rates for auto, home, pet, identity theft, and long-term care insurance.

These services are offered at a special discount to Stanford employees. Enrollment is optional, and you can apply at any time throughout the year. Learn more about these exclusive savings below or enroll directly with our partner service providers.

Voluntary Benefits FAQ

Identity theft is free to employees. All other voluntary benefit programs are paid for by employees at discounted rates. Employees will enroll directly with the carrier who will then bill the employee.

Employees may enroll in voluntary benefits anytime throughout the year.

Since voluntary benefits are not paid with pre-tax deductions, payment cannot be made through payroll deductions. You will have payment options with each service provider such as direct billing, electronic funds transfer (EFT) or recurring credit card debits.

To receive discounts on voluntary benefits, you must be employed with Stanford. These discounts will end at policy renewal once you are no longer employed by the university. Any additional discounts you may receive, such as good driver, would continue as they are not based upon being a Stanford employee.

Part-time, benefits-eligible employees are eligible to receive voluntary benefits discounts available to Stanford.

Please contact service providers directly with any questions regarding available insurance policies, coverages and discounts. Mention you are a benefits-eligible employee at Stanford University to receive the discount on their policy.
