Your Benefits on Leave
If you are on a paid leave of absence, all of your health and life insurance benefits will continue except your dependent care FSA.
When you move from a paid leave to an unpaid leave we allow you to drop your benefits within 31 days of going on unpaid status. If you keep your benefits while on unpaid leave, you will be billed directly by Billing Services for your premiums.
See the chart below for detailed information about your benefits on leave.
LEAVE TYPE | YOUR CONTRIBUTION | STANFORD CONTRIBUTION |
---|---|---|
Paid Leave (You're receiving full or partial salary continuation through the use of leave accruals) | If you are on a paid leave and qualify for salary continuation, all your normal benefit deductions (except your contribution to your Dependent Care Spending Account) will be taken from your reduced Stanford paycheck | You continue to receive the same university contribution to your benefits as when you were actively at work. |
Unpaid Leave (You are not receiving a Stanford paycheck) |
| You continue to receive the same university contribution to your benefits as when you were actively at work. |
Personal Leave (Must be approved by your HR manager) | You will pay the full cost for your benefits while you are on personal leave | If you extend your leave to a personal leave of absence, you may keep your benefits, but will no longer receive a university contribution toward them. |
