What is one fun fact about you?
I was a DJ of a world music program at KZSU, Stanford's radio station, for a year.
What is one thing that you like about working at Stanford?
I enjoy the many lectures and talks available to the staff and the community at large. I've learned a great deal from talks featuring renowned authors as well as experts and scholars offering insights in fields such as psychology, education and technology. Learning about cutting-edge research is truly exhilarating.
Tell us briefly about an event, project, program or initiative you were involved with at Stanford that you're most proud of.
I redesigned the school's annual publication—The Bing Times—more than 20 years ago and took on the role of the editor a few years later. I deeply appreciate having the opportunity to work on the project and am proud of putting together a high-quality publication that illustrates Bing Nursery School's educational philosophy through teachers' articles about classroom curriculum and topics related to child development. All articles since 2000 (more than 500 pieces) are archived on Bing School's website and are searchable by key words.
What is one of your favorite memories while working at Stanford?
Bringing live concerts and performances to young children and their families at the Bing Concert Hall and Dinkelspiel Auditorium, in partnership with the Department of Music. We believe that experiences with the arts will instill in children a love and joy of music, dance and culture from an early age.
Leave your Legacy: What piece of guidance would you give a new hire at Stanford?
Take full advantage of STAP funds for taking classes and the lectures/talks offered to the community.
