What is one fun fact about you?
My wife Laurie and I have always enjoyed exploring the small towns along the California coast. Our daughter Rachel and son Eric went along on those trips, and now they enjoy their own coastal experiences. I love going on bike rides and exploring local cities and our amazing coastlines.
What is one thing that you like about working at Stanford?
Meeting and being surrounded by amazing, passionate, creative, fun, caring, and thoughtful human beings.
Tell us briefly about an event, project, program or initiative you were involved with at Stanford that you're most proud of.
It's difficult to single out just one thing. Whether it was participating in computing projects and initiatives or helping bring our exciting science to a more diverse community, I'm proud of having participated, in some small way, toward the growth of SLAC as a world-class laboratory and facility.
What is one of your favorite memories while working at Stanford?
Sitting on the roof of Building 50 many years ago, watching the summer sunset.
Leave your Legacy: What piece of guidance would you give a new hire at Stanford?
Your contribution to SLAC and Stanford really matters. It takes everyone to make this thing work. Keep learning, spread your wings, take advantage of what Stanford and SLAC have to offer, be your own advocate, enjoy the people around you, and keep your sense of humor.
