What is one fun fact about you?
When I first came to Stanford as a temp, and they asked me to stay, I told them I couldn’t because I wanted the month of June off to get married. They figured out a way to make it work and hired me anyway. My husband has been with me all of these years, and I couldn’t have made it through without him. He is still my best friend and my forever love.
What is one thing that you like about working at Stanford?
The incredible people! I have had the amazing luck in my time here to be surrounded by kind and generous people. I have learned so much from them.
Tell us briefly about an event, project, program or initiative you were involved with at Stanford that you're most proud of.
I'm proud of the Expert Partners Program and the far reaching effect it had on so many. I was one of the founding members and later ran it for a number of years. Many of the trainings that are now incorporated into the UIT programs started with Expert Partners, and to this day, the mailing list is still used by hundreds as they seek information and guidance for computer related solutions.
What is one of your favorite memories while working at Stanford?
It’s a toss up between working with Amy J. Blue and meeting President Mikhail Gorbachev.
Leave your Legacy: What piece of guidance would you give a new hire at Stanford?
Listen to the people around you. Learn from them about the environment and what it takes to be good in their position, and then apply it to yours. Learn about Stanford and the many options available to you, and then take advantage of whatever is offered. Share your knowledge with others. Come to work with positive attitude.
