What is one fun fact about you?
I was born in Quito, Ecuador, and for the first 18 years of my life, I awoke to a magnificent vista of the Cotopaxi Volcano. That sight imprinted in my mind a sense of enduring awe and wonderment for the mountains. It has driven me to climb Mount Whitney, trek the Grand Canyon, ascend Mount Fuji, part of Cotopaxi, and most recently trek the Inca trail of my ancestors, from Cuzco to Machu Picchu and above to the Rainbow Mountain; a transformative journey.
What is one thing that you like about working at Stanford?
Working at Stanford is quite gratifying. From its rich and vibrant multicultural community to the vast number of events, activities, celebrations, academic conferences, continuing education classes for adults, art, and music to the beauty of its campus, it is all-encompassing and a lot of fun.
Leave your Legacy: What piece of guidance would you give a new hire at Stanford?
Connect with this community, participate in an event, attend a performance, take a class, borrow books from the library, ride your bike, walk around campus, find the little colorful drinking fountains at the Quad, take pictures at Memchu, and use your STAP funds. And if by chance, at any point, you feel discouraged or overwhelmed in life or work and are in need of emotional support, make an appointment at the Faculty Staff Help Center; a place with excellent professional counseling.
