Step 2: Pay Your CCN Career Counselor Directly
- Cost: Each 1-hour career counseling session is $175.
- Payment Options: Your CCN Career Counselor will provide details on their accepted payment methods.
- STAP Reimbursement: Pay your CCN Career Counselor out-of-pocket and then submit a reimbursement request.
Step 3: Request Reimbursement
Reimbursement Limits: Total STAP fund reimbursement is limited to $500 per fiscal year for all CCN services. Reimbursement for career assessments may not exceed $175 out of the total $500 reimbursement limit.
Reimbursement Process:
Please request reimbursement within 20 days of your CCN session. To receive reimbursement:
- You must have available STAP funds to cover the full reimbursement request.
- You must not have exceeded the $500 per fiscal year reimbursement limit.
Please allow up to 10 business days for your reimbursement request to be processed.
After your reimbursement request is processed, please allow an additional 3-5 business days for funds to arrive in your bank account. Your reimbursement will be deposited into your bank account as a separate line item, not in your Stanford University payroll check.
Changing Sessions
Please give your CCN Career Counselor at least 24 hours notice if you wish to cancel or reschedule a session. If you do not provide this notice, they may charge you for the missed session. Charges for late cancellations or missed sessions are not eligible for reimbursement.
Confidentiality
The details of your career counseling sessions with CCN Career Counselors are confidential and not shared with any Stanford representatives. However, CCN Career Counselors do collect and provide the university with demographic information, trends, and satisfaction data to improve this program.
FAQ
Who can use CCN services at the negotiated rate and receive reimbursement?
Benefits-eligible staff employees, including SLAC employees, are eligible.
Faculty, students, retirees, and employees’ family members are not eligible.
Is manager approval required to receive reimbursement?
No, manager approval is not necessary to receive reimbursement for CCN. Your manager will not be informed about your involvement with the program.
Can I get reimbursed for career counseling with a counselor who is not in CCN?
No. Reimbursement is only available for services with CCN Career Counselors.
Can I get reimbursed for the cost of career assessments?
Yes, but reimbursement may not exceed $175 out of the total $500 reimbursement limit. Assessments must be ordered by a CCN Career Counselor as part of a career counseling session.
What are my options if I have already received $500 in CCN reimbursements for the fiscal year?
You can continue working with a CCN Career Counselor at the negotiated rate of $175 per 1-hour session. However, you will not be eligible for reimbursement after reaching the $500 limit.
What are my options if I do not have available STAP funds for the amount I am requesting in reimbursement?
You can still work with a CCN Career Counselor at the negotiated rate of $175 per 1-hour session. However, you will not be eligible for reimbursement if your STAP fund balance is insufficient.
Is there a limit on the number of career counseling sessions I can have?
You can request reimbursement for up to $500 per fiscal year (equivalent to two 1-hour sessions). After reaching the $500 limit, you can continue working with a CCN Career Counselor but will not be eligible for reimbursement.
How is Career Counseling Network different from other counseling and coaching services that Stanford offers?
Stanford offers several programs for staff support, including 1:1 Development Coaching powered by CoachHub, the Faculty Staff Help Center, and BeWell. Choose the program that best suits your goals and needs. Refer to Cardinal at Work for detailed information on the differences between these programs.
