Annual Conference

Main content start

The UHR-DEIB office welcomes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) Community of Practice (DCP) members from across the university to our annual conference each fall.

About the conference

IDEAL DCP Conference 2023

The IDEAL DCP Conference 2023: Working Together to Facilitate Change was held on Monday, September 18. The conference offers a hybrid format (in-person and virtual) with additional virtual-only programming throughout the weeks following the conference. The in-person conference was hosted at the Stanford campus at Munger.

Conference registration

This annual no-cost conference is open to all Stanford staff who serve as DEIB practitioners (any staff member who engages in DEIB efforts). Registration for in-person conference attendance closed on August 25, 2023. Registration for virtual conference attendance closed on September 10, 2023.

Share your work with the community

We invite all conference attendees to share individual or team DEIB work with the broader DCP community. At our first annual conference in 2022, attendees asked for an opportunity to share DEIB/JEDI work with colleagues at the conference. In an effort to "uncover new ideas and to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities" (Lave & Wegner-Trayner, 1991), we're requesting DEIB-related content submissions from the community.

Please note that DCP members are not expected to create new content to submit; this is an opportunity to share existing work, including highlights from the past and aspirations for the future.

Proposal submissions closed on August 25, 2023.

Additional virtual sessions

In addition to the full-day hybrid conference, the 2023 conference includes three additional virtual sessions:

  • DCP TEDx: September 22, 10:00am - 12:00pm PT

  • DEI Deconstructed Workshop: September 27, 1:00 - 3:00pm PT

  • Coalition-Building Workshop: October 4, 1:00 - 3:00pm PT

IDEAL Honor Roll for staff

The UHR Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging is pleased to launch the inaugural IDEAL Honor Roll for staff. Beginning in 2023, the IDEAL Honor Roll recognizes Stanford staff who have demonstrated a significant commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access in a Learning Environment through leadership, practices, processes, activities, peer support and/or initiatives during the past five years.

Honorees are recognized at the annual IDEAL DCP Conference. Nominations for 2023 closed on August 16, 2023
