Team Experiences
Cardinal at Work Cares for Teams represents an opportunity for teams to strengthen connection and belonging within workgroups and to provide a meaningful way to give back to the community.
Team experiences are coordinated in partnership with HandsOn Bay Area (HOBA). This non-profit organization connects companies and people with high-impact volunteer projects through an extensive network of local Bay Area nonprofits and schools.
Teams are invited to apply for funded group volunteer activities three times a year. This year’s application cycle will occur as follows:
- March 2026
- October 2026
In order to apply, you need to be a current people manager. The number of Team Experiences is limited each year. Application awards are based on eligibility criteria. Awardees will be notified following the close of each application cycle.

Partnership with HandsOn Bay Area (HOBA)
Through our partnership with HOBA, workgroups can engage in two types of team experiences: group volunteer activities or Project-in-a-Box.
Group volunteer activities
Off-site projects designed to take 2-6 hours, not including travel time.
- Local, organic food gardens for people in need
- Supporting food distribution and pantries
- Park rehabilitation
- Recycling projects
- School makeovers
- Donation processing
- Career readiness
- Shelter improvements
- Environmental restoration
- Education/STEM projects
- Health and wellness projects
- Interested in something else? It may be possible to craft your own project.
Project-in-a-box
Projects of about one hour in duration that may be done on-site or remotely.
- Herb garden kits for people in need
- Onesies for newborns
- Art Zine kits
- Bristle Bot kits
- Stuffed animals for local hospitals and shelters
- Wellness journals for people in need
- Blankets for people experiencing homelessness
