Feel better in your 40s and beyond with new benefit
Each year, March is dedicated to observing the achievements and perspectives of women on both a national and global scale. As we mark this month, this is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the women in our lives and encourage them to prioritize their own health.
To help Stanford women make informed decisions about their health, University HR introduced Midi Health as a new offering during Open Enrollment last fall. Midi focuses on menopause and women’s health issues to help women age 40 and over receive the right treatments for hormone-related symptoms. This program is offered to employees as well as spouses or domestic partners who are covered by one of Stanford’s Blue Shield medical plans (Healthcare + Savings HDHP, Trio, ACA Basic HDHP) or Stanford Health Care Alliance.
Here are some details about Midi, as well as the Stanford programs more broadly available for you to incorporate into your health journey.
How Midi works
Hormonal change is at the root of dozens of symptoms women experience after 40, such as hot flashes and night sweats, trouble sleeping, brain fog, weight and body changes, and more. As midlife specialists, Midi connects the dots to guide you or your loved one toward safe, effective solutions. Here is how Midi can help:
- Listens, tests, and treats. Midi clinicians take the time to talk through your concerns, symptoms, and medical history. They arrange easy diagnostic testing and use your results to create a personalized care plan you can share with your other doctors.
- Care from anywhere. You don’t have to leave the comfort of your home—expert help is just a video call away.
- Unlimited follow-up care. Midi’s experts stick with you to adjust treatments and address new issues with a wide range of solutions, from hormonal medications to supplements and botanicals.
Midi also cares for any patient under 40 experiencing a hormone fluctuation or imbalance that results in perimenopause or menopause symptoms.
You can access Midi's services through your insurance plan as an in-network provider, which means that the standard co-pay or deductible associated with your plan is applicable. If your Midi provider is a specialist, you would pay the specialist co-payment.

Put YOU first: Reducing stress to improve your well-being
While Midi’s clinicians can help you feel your best, here are a few more ways Stanford can help you with self-care.
- Cultivate unconditional self-worth: Our mind, body, and health evolve with each season of life. It’s important to treat yourself with kindness and understanding and give yourself the same care and support you would offer a good friend. Watch Cultivating Unconditional Self-Worth, a pre-recorded Healthy Living webinar, to learn powerful tools and discover the importance of protecting your mind from negative self-messaging. Plus, you can earn BeWell points if you tune in.
- Find the help you need: Check in with your health plan for any women’s health support you need. For example, if you are enrolled in the Kaiser health plan, connect with your primary care provider for guidance. Also, if you are enrolled in one of Stanford’s high deductible health plans, you can use Included Health to find a women’s health specialist.
- Find personalized support: Don’t forget to prioritize your mental well-being as you navigate the different seasons of your life, and that could mean focusing on better nutrition, improving your sleep, and more. Meru Health is a 12-week virtual program guided by a licensed therapist and available for free to benefits-eligible employees and their adult dependents who are enrolled in a university health plan.
- Add movement to your daily routine: Incorporate regular physical activity into your daily routine and reap the physical, mental, and social rewards of exercise, leading to a healthier and more balanced life. Stanford BeWell is a rewarding wellness program that lets you personalize your experience so you can create and maintain healthy lifestyle behaviors no matter where you work, and you can earn $560 in financial incentives for participating.
