Stanford medical plan providers make it easy for you to download and print your card digitally.

At this time of year, many of you often ask if you'll be getting a new health plan ID card, especially if you change plans for the new plan year starting Jan. 1.

Most medical plans no longer issue new cards every year (and our dental and vision plans do not provide ID cards at all), although some still issue a card for new members. In any case, knowing how to access your plan information digitally is important, especially if you need services or prescriptions when you don't have it in hand.

  2. Open the app and click on the “Manage” tab to access your electronic ID card.
  3. Click on the ID card to text, email or download the ID card to your cell phone.

Kaiser

If you elected Kaiser or added dependents during Open Enrollment, Kaiser will send you a new member card in January. Note that while Kaiser is still producing physical cards, they are moving away from cards with embossed lettering to cards that are flat and laminated. All members will be able to access their new cards digitally through the Kaiser mobile app by Jan. 1.

  • For the mobile app: Open the app and select "Home." From there, you should see an icon on the top of the window that looks like an ID card.

For questions, call Kaiser at 800-464-4000.
