Can I meet with my coach during university breaks?
Yes. Although your coach may have limited availability on holidays, CoachHub does not close during university breaks, and you can continue to schedule sessions. Please note that if you choose not to engage in coaching during university breaks, it is not possible to receive a complimentary extension after returning from break.
Are my coaching sessions with CoachHub considered personal time or work time?
Please refer to section 2 of AGM 2.1.12: Staff Development Programs. Non-exempt employees should confer with their supervisor and/or local HR manager when scheduling their coaching sessions.
What will CoachHub do with the assessment data that I complete? WIll I receive a copy of the results? Will my manager or anyone else at Stanford?
The results of your assessment will be made available to you and your coach within the CoachHub platform. Your manager will only be able to view the results if you decide to share the results with your manager. Additionally, University HR will be able to view aggregated, de-identified results for participants across the program. However, to protect anonymity, University HR will not be able to view your individual results.
Coaching Focus Areas
Is coaching right for me?
Coaching is a collaborative process where a coach helps you achieve specific professional or developmental goals. It involves a structured conversation designed to inspire you to maximize your potential, gain new insights, and develop skills or strategies to achieve your goals.
Personalized coaching can support you in many different areas of your work, including:
- Discussing situations with a neutral third party who can help you identify your goals and the growth you desire to unlock your potential
- Adapting to a new or changed role
- Applying new skills, concepts, or best practices
- Support to deepen your awareness, self-confidence, or motivation
- Navigating organizational challenges or changes
Review these Coaching Readiness questions to ensure that coaching is right for you at this time.
Are there any topics that are excluded from this program?
This program may not be used for:
- Manager-driven corrective action
- Developing disciplinary action plans
- Workplace complaints
- Employee and labor relations areas such as grievances, legal matters, etc.
If these topics arise during your conversations, your coach will direct you to the appropriate Stanford resources, such as Employee & Labor Relations, Faculty Staff Help Center, and others.
Does this program include career coaching?
No. The coaches available through CoachHub are not career coaches. If you are interested in discussing career exploration and navigation, job search, and other career development topics, please check out Career Counseling Network.
How is this program different from other Stanford programs and departments that provide one-on-one support?
Stanford has several programs and departments that offer one-on-one support to staff employees, including the Faculty Staff Help Center, BeWell, and Career Counseling Network. Depending on your goals and the topics you wish to discuss, another program or department may be a better fit for your needs. Please refer to this page to understand the differences between the Stanford programs and departments that provide one-on-one support.
The Coaching Experience
Who are the coaches?
CoachHub is a leading digital coaching platform that connects you to over 3,500 highly qualified and certified business coaches, including 35 coaches with higher education experience. Coaches are based in 70 countries across six continents, and they offer coaching sessions in over 60 languages.
How am I paired with a coach? What if I want to change the coach that I was paired with?
When your coaching period begins, you will be invited to the CoachHub platform where you will share some information about yourself and your coach preferences. Based on your preferences, CoachHub provides you with up to six suggested coaches. You can review their profiles before selecting the one you prefer. If you are unable to match with a coach that meets your preferences, CoachHub’s customer experience team can support you with finding a coach. After meeting with your coach, if you determine that they are not a good fit for your needs, you may re-match with a new coach by reaching out to CoachHub at support@coachhub.com.
If I have a problem or concern with my coach, what should I do?
Stanford and CoachHub are committed to ensuring that you have a positive experience with your coach. If you experience a problem or concern, please reach out to us as soon as possible at learningdev@stanford.edu so we can help you to resolve your concern.
If I enjoy my experience with CoachHub, can I extend the coaching service beyond the three months?
Yes. There is an option to extend your coaching experience for either 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months after the initial three-month coaching period.
Extension Costs:
- 6 Months: $2,580
- 9 Months: $3,870
- 12 Months: $5,160
To Extend Your Coaching:
- Supervisor Support and PTA: If you plan to use department funds to cover the cost, please discuss your desire for an extension with your supervisor and obtain a PTA.
- Complete the Extension Form: Complete and submit the registration form to officially request your extension. Under course name, please specify 6-month, 9-month, or 12-month extension.
If I enjoy my experience with my coach, can I work with them in their private practice outside the CoachHub platform?
If you wish to continue working with your coach, please request a 6-month, 9-month, or 12-month extension to continue meeting with your coach through the CoachHub platform. CoachHub’s policies and Stanford’s guidelines prohibit CoachHub coaches from seeing you in their private practice.
May I get access to the CoachHub platform before my coaching period begins? If I’m unable to start coaching right away, can I get a complimentary extension?
Unfortunately, no. You have access to the CoachHub platform only during the coaching period for which you are registered; and the start and end dates are not flexible. Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions if you are unable to take advantage of coaching during the 3-month period for which you are registered.
If I take a leave of absence during my coaching experience, can I pause and then restart my coaching experience at a later date?
If you need to take a leave of absence from work (officially documented with Stanford Human Resources) during your three-month coaching period, any remaining time may be resumed when you return to work through August 2025. If you are enrolled in the program and plan to take a leave of absence, please email learningdev@stanford.edu to discuss your options.
