Diversity & Inclusion Learning Resources
The IDEAL Learning Journey
This learning experience for all staff began in March 2022. Learn more about The IDEAL Learning Journey.
Brave Spaces sessions
In 2020, Stanford staff from across campus participated in Brave Spaces, a virtual forum to openly discuss the realities of inequality and anti-Black racism and how to confront them. The goal of these conversations was to broaden our understanding, help us become better allies, and discuss ways we can create a more inclusive and equitable culture.

Staff DEIB brand resources
Stanford maintains a set of guidelines that addresses the best ways to use the Stanford staff DEIB messaging logo, tagline, and purpose statement. This information is intended for Stanford communications professionals and DEIB professionals to encourage consistent messaging across the university for initiatives, programs, services, and projects that are aligned with diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for Stanford staff.
Stanford staff can access a resource folder intended for both communications professionals and DEIB practitioners. Within this Google Folder, staff are able to access these items:
- DEIB marks (logo + tagline): These marks are the visual identity created by the IDEAL Staff Advisory Committee for local use for staff activities that are aligned with the university’s IDEAL vision and goals.
- Use guidelines: This PDF document reviews the guidelines for using the Stanford staff DEIB messaging logo, tagline, and purpose statement (below).
“We aim to transform Stanford’s culture by embracing and expanding the diversity that
strengthens the university. We will intentionally lead with equity to ensure access, and cultivate inclusion, all grounded in the principles of social justice, in order for staff to be valued as an essential part of the university and show up as their authentic selves.”
- Virtual backgrounds: These virtual backgrounds incorporate the DEIB mark, giving us expanded ways to represent DEIB at Stanford when in virtual meetings or events.
