Building stronger relationships in the workplace

Course overview:
It’s increasingly important that employees and managers are able to communicate effectively across cultures. When done successfully there is  greater trust, stronger relationships, increased efficiency and better results. Not only does each person  have a different communication style, but communication patterns also vary across the world. This can present new challenges as Stanford  adapts to its diverse workforce. 

In this session, participants will: 

  • Explore the challenges of cross-cultural communication
  • Gain insights into the ways different cultures communicate
  • Understand the difference between high- and low-context cultures
  • Explore cultural differences on issues like positivity, conflict and speaking up
  • Develop concrete tools for communicating more effectively with anyone – even if they’re halfway around the world

Format: Two sessions; Main session (1.5 hours) and Follow-up session (1 hour)
