Start the year by focusing on your professional growth

Winter quarter brings refreshed opportunities to focus on your professional growth, and two immediate opportunities include professional development courses available for enrollment, and LinkedIn Learning with online courses, webinars, and podcasts.

Professional Development courses: Open for enrollment

Winter Quarter course start dates begin in late January through late March and offer a variety of impactful learning courses and workshops that help you approach your life and your work with a new lens and offer very practical approaches that can set you up for personal and professional success. All courses and workshops are STAP-eligible and offered via Zoom to accommodate hybrid and remote schedules.

One course back by popular demand and timely as we begin a new year filled with possibilities is “Power of Habit.” This course helps you identify the habits that hinder your performance, engagement, or happiness and use skill (instead of will) to replace those habits with effective habits, creating new routines that produce desired outcomes. The course consists of three, two-hour sessions.

Additional courses include:

  • 21 Practices for Happiness and Accomplishment @ Work
  • Accomplishing More leadership program
  • Crucial Conversations
  • Design Thinking in Action
  • Introduction to Design Thinking
  • Process Improvement Basics

View all course and workshop descriptions (course catalog), and view dates and times (course calendar) on the Cardinal at Work website. Information to get you to the many campus providers who support your professional development with courses, programs and workshops is also on the website.

LinkedIn Learning: Available 24/7

The university has an enterprise license for LinkedIn Learning, an application with thousands of online courses and podcasts. Pick a topic and dive in! All staff, faculty and students with a full-service SUNet ID are able to use the application at no cost. You can also share what you’re learning with others to create learning buddies that enrich your learning experience. There’s no requirement to connect with your LinkedIn profile (but if you do, you’ll get personalized learning recommendations.)

Login securely to LinkedIn Learning from the Axess Employee Center tab (or the Professional Development webpage in the Cardinal at Work website). Search for topics from their catalog of over 13,000 courses; if you want to get familiar with LinkedIn Learning, start by searching for “How to use LinkedIn Learning” and review a series of brief topical videos to learn how to best use the application.

Attend a demo

Want to quickly get up to speed on how to maximize the free LinkedIn Learning resource? We're holding brief demo sessions to give you a tour and answer questions. Bookmark this page and check back for details on how to join a demo on your choice of these dates/times in winter and spring quarters:
