Soak up new skills this summer

Summer can be a great time to focus on your professional development and use STAP funds that expire on August 31.

University Human Resources (UHR) continues to offer one-day courses, such as 21 Practices for Happiness and Accomplishment and Introduction to Design Thinking, as well as multi-session options so you can do a deeper dive on a particular competency, such as Crucial Conversations. All courses will be held online this summer and are STAP-fund eligible. View the complete course catalog.

LinkedIn Learning is another fantastic (and free!) way to develop skills by accessing thousands of courses, available to all in our community with a full-service SUNet ID and sponsored by UHR. The platform is available through the Axess portal at any time.

These were the most popular courses accessed by your Stanford colleagues over the past several months:

  • Instructional Design: Adult Learners
  • Developing a Learning Mindset
  • Leading with Applied Improv
  • The Six Morning Habits of High Performers
  • Project Management Foundations
  • Smartsheet Essential Training (2019)
  • Learning Python
  • Managing Your Anxiety while Presenting

LinkedIn Learning (LiL) is available 24/7. Review core competencies for Stanford that have been tied to LiL courses, view a course on how to use LiL, and check out the FAQ. On LiL, you can choose one of the above courses or any of the 13,000+ other courses, share your learning plan with colleagues to create learning cohorts, or sync up with your LinkedIn Learning profile to get personalized recommendations based on your profile (optional).
