New self-defense workshop and other safety resources

Stanford Recreation and Wellness, BeWell, and the Department of Public Safety have partnered to offer free self-defense resources to the campus community to empower you to learn techniques to physically protect yourself when faced with potentially dangerous situations.

Following the AlertSU warnings in August and October regarding rapes reported on campus, personal safety and situational awareness have been on the minds of many in our community. The university continues to identify and implement enhancements to our safety infrastructure on campus, including increased lighting and the expansion of security cameras. Additionally, employees can now enroll in an informational webinar and 1.5-hour workshops on self-defense. Additional workshops are also being offered to the student community.

Register for a free informational webinar

BeWell will offer a free Healthy Living webinar on self-defense with Stanford teaching specialist Jon Keeling, on Mon., Nov. 14, from 12-1  p.m. You can register for the virtual webinar Self-defense - Develop understanding and skills to empower yourself now. Starting Nov. 17, the recorded webinar will be available on the Healthy Living Webinar Archive
