In this interactive, two-part workshop, you will explore core principles of interpersonal skill and mutual influence. The sessions offer opportunities to build self-awareness about how you relate to others and identify skills you want to strengthen. This workshop introduces foundational concepts and a starting point for skill development, you'll leave with concrete practices and strategies to continue developing your capabilities long after the workshop ends.

You’ll learn how to listen more deeply, give and receive feedback effectively, and communicate with greater clarity and authenticity. The workshop provides practical tools for building trust, navigating challenging conversations, and fostering stronger relationships—skills that translate across both personal and professional contexts.

Session one focuses on listening, empathy, and creating sustainable interpersonal influence. Session two builds on this foundation with more dialogue skills, including how to avoid common conversation pitfalls, an introduction to group dynamics, and adapting your approach across different contexts and cultures.

This workshop draws from the well-known Interpersonal Dynamics course at Stanford Graduate School of Business, now in its 56th year, as well as the Building Interpersonal Skills weekend course, which Stanford Continuing Studies has offered over 60 times in the past 15 years.

Facilitator: Campbell Frank, Lecturer in Management, Graduate School of Business

Course Dates: May 6 and 13, 2026 9:45am-11:30am

Course Fee: $150 (STAP eligible)
