In November, hundreds of employees donated personal care items for local charities. Hundreds more sorted and assembled gift care packs in December. A huge THANK YOU to all volunteers and our departmental Cardinal at Work Ambassadors who made this happen!
In our second annual employee donation drive, thousands of personal care items (e.g., shampoo, soap, and toothbrush) were collected for CityTeam homeless shelters and the Stanford Ronald McDonald House. Employees volunteered in 30-minute shifts at two assembly parties to sort and assemble care gift packs. At one assembly party, we also created hundreds of children’s activity kits for the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, to help young patients or their siblings ease anxieties before medical procedures.
Leaders showed their support for employee volunteerism by pitching in at assembly parties, including President Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost Persis Drell, School of Engineering Dean Jennifer Widom, Vice President for Human Resources Elizabeth Zacharias, several Associate Vice Presidents and a Senior Associate Dean.
If you participated in the 2017 employee donation drive and/or assembly parties and want to give feedback about your experience, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Input and ideas for volunteer events in 2018 are being solicited from employees during January. Our third annual Cardinal at Work Cares donation drive is set for fall quarter, 2018.
