What's still in Axess and what moved to Sequoia

HR and payroll functions now live in Sequoia, but Axess isn't going away. STARS and STAP information, as well as historical information for pay statements, tax forms, and work arrangements, will remain available in Axess. Links to these Axess functions will be provided in Sequoia, so you can always start with Sequoia.

Axess isn't going away. But most of what you did there for HR and payroll now lives in Sequoia. Here's what to expect and where to find it.

When you log in to Axess

Axess isn't going away. When you log in, you'll see a "Meet Sequoia" link at the top of the page that takes you directly to the new system. Copies of documents that predate Sequoia, including payslips and work agreements for June 2026 and earlier, and tax documents for 2025 and earlier, will remain accessible in the Employee Center view.

A few things worth knowing

  • Academic (non-HR) functions in Axess used by undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, instructors and advisors are not affected by this change and will continue as before.
  • STARS will be visible in Axess, allowing employees to log in to their accounts and check their Staff Training Assistance Program (STAP) balance. You can also get to STARS from a tile in Sequoia.
  • Functionality related to the Grow and Perform at Stanford (GPS) program will remain operational in Axess until July 31, after which it will no longer appear in employee and manager views. July 31, 2026, is the last day for employees and managers to access and download past performance documents in GPS before the system sunsets in September. After July 2026, you will need to contact your local HR team to access historical documents.

What employees will see

What managers will see

For managers, all functions for viewing, updating, or approving employee information will now be housed solely in Sequoia. Upon logging into Axess, managers will receive guidance on available actions and will then be redirected to Sequoia for all relevant tasks.
