Stanford Redwood City is our first major expansion from the original campus in over 125 years. The new campus, targeted to open in 2019, is essential to our continued growth and the advancement of our mission to research and education. Our employees are vital to this pursuit.
Our new campus will be the workplace for approximately 2,700 employees whose jobs are important to supporting the university's mission. The 35-acre campus includes four building complexes and enables greater collaboration by bringing work groups and departments currently dispersed together in a cohesive, new campus.
Employees relocating to the Redwood City campus represent various schools and business units, including the Graduate School of Business (GSB), Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning (VPTL), School of Medicine, University Libraries, Business Affairs & CFO, University Human Resources (UHR), Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE), Office of Development (OOD), and Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE).
"Stanford Redwood City is essential to the future of Stanford, and I'm excited about the work being done to make it a great workplace for our employees. This is a unique opportunity to create both a new center of excellence for our operations and a vibrant, attractive workplace with more services for our employees. This is not just about moving people and functions. The development of Stanford Redwood City will require all of us at Stanford, wherever we work, to develop new ways of working together and connecting with each other."
