Chief Operating Officer, Stanford Sierra Programs, LLC
Stanford Alumni Association (SAA)
Years at Stanford:
30 years

What I have enjoyed most about my time at Stanford is . . .
Working with students. Each summer the Stanford Sierra Camp hires 61 current undergrads to work at the camp as counselors. These students always amaze me with their energy and intelligence and are true inspiration to work with.

What is your favorite place at Stanford and why?
I love the outdoors and walking around Lake Lagunita is one of my favorite activities when on campus.

Point of Pride: Tell us briefly about an event, project, program or initiative you were involved with at Stanford that you're most proud of.
I have experienced many challenges during my thirty years at the Stanford Sierra Camp. The challenge we faced that I am most proud of is how the camp team performed during the large Angora Fire of 2017. As the fire threatened the camp guests, staff and facilities, the entire team performed exactly as trained, keeping the guests calm and evacuating the facility without a hitch.

Leave your Legacy: What piece of guidance or advice would you give to a new hire to Stanford?
Show compassion and communicate clearly.

Dave, I can't imagine Sierra Camp without you -- thanks for an amazing 30 year run. Carolyn
