Getting started

Visit sequoia.stanford.edu. To log in, skip past "user name and password" and select "sign in with SUNet ID." Use your SUNet ID and password to log in and complete two-step authentication.

If you have issues logging in, have questions, or need help completing a task in Sequoia:

  • Browse the Services & Support portal for guidance related to Sequoia, benefits, leaves, I-9s, and more. You can browse various topic areas to review help articles or submit the appropriate HR Service Center request form for your inquiry. New help articles and resources continue to be added.
  • For time card, absence, and payroll questions, submit a request through the Financial Support Center. Both centers are working together to support the full range of Sequoia functionality.

Form I-9 employment verification

Some employees may be asked to complete or update their Form I-9 employment verification. If your school or unit contacts you about a missing or updating an expiring I-9, review the requirements and schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Before you submit your first time card, read this

Time entry in Sequoia works differently from Axess. Depending on your role, you may use a new time card to report hours worked, or only enter time when you take time off.

What's still in Axess and what moved to Sequoia

HR and payroll functions now live in Sequoia, but Axess isn't going away. STARS and STAP information, as well as historical information for pay statements, tax forms, and work arrangements, remain available in Axess. Links to these Axess functions are provided in Sequoia, so you can always start with Sequoia.

Sequoia notifications direct to your email

Here's what to look for. As you start to use Sequoia, you'll receive email notifications for time, absences, journeys, performance management, and more. Some notifications require action; others are simply for confirmation.
