Stanford Celebrates You Honoree

Marcelo Clerici-Arias

Years at Stanford
30
Honored
2022
What is one fun fact about you?
Despite not being a very good player, I love soccer (fútbol), which I played for 35 years. I also got pretty involved with youth soccer, wearing many hats in a 10+ year period coach, team manager, referee, coach trainer, referee coordinator, and even president of a local club.
What is one thing that you like about working at Stanford?
The long-lasting relationships with students and colleagues.
Tell us briefly about an event, project, program or initiative you were involved with at Stanford that you're most proud of.
My wife and I were Resident Fellows at Cedro, an all-frosh dorm in Wilbur Hall, from 1999 to 2014. We got to interact with almost 1500 students between first-year students and upper-class staff for a year at a time, and we got to know many of them well. We have stayed in touch with some of them throughout the years, and we are very proud of whom they have become and our very small role in their development.
